The People Behind the Program

Cara Poppitt
Program Designer, CEO
B. Comm, B.A, Zumba, AFLCA, High Five
As an established studio owner of 12 years, Cara understands the many demands placed on you, from the need for continual growth, to the desire to increase your daytime program offerings. She is delighted to share her inside secrets with you to run a highly successful Fine Arts Club™ that is designed specifically for dance studio settings. As a mother of three young children and previous creative director for a large signature series in a fitness franchise, Cara understands the importance of lesson planning and execution. She holds certifications in dance, yoga and fitness and belongs to Alberta Fitness Leaders Association and the Dance Studio Owners Association. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in marketing and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in psychology. Cara received numerous awards including Global Television’s Woman of Vision, DSOA Innovator of the year, DSOA best product/service of the year and WHC Entrepreneur of the Year. She is passionate about helping studio owners enjoy daytime programming and generate profit easily and without the stress.

Sarah Kociuba
Teacher Programmer
B.A., Early Childhood Level 3
Sarah is a mother of three, and holds a Bachelor of General Arts Degree with a Minor in English and holds her Level 3 Early Childhood Education.
​
Aside from caring for her own children, she has extensive experience as a preschool teacher. Sarah is a natural caregiver and loves to inspire growth, creativity and development in children.
​
She loves the Fine Arts Club and has created the lesson plans carefully, to ensure that all children have fun while learning.

Paige Jonason
Teacher Programmer
B.A. Dance, Early Childhood Education 1
Paige holds a degree in the Fine Arts majoring in dance and holds her Early Childhood level 1 certification and a key creator of the Fine Arts Club as she understands the need for easy lesson plans that work.

Paige has been dancing since the young age of 3, completing many A.D.A.P.T. Jazz exams and R.A.D Ballet Exams.
​
She began her teaching career in 2011, educating students in the styles of Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop and Tap and is now one of our main teachers and program developers for the Fine Arts Club™.

Jen Goeres
Teacher Certification Collaborator

Jen is the founder of WordPLAY Consulting and works directly within education, recreation and sport organizations to connect, inspire and inform through PLAY!
​
Jen graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Kinesiology (Adapted and Therapeutic Physical Activity) and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary Physical Education). Her love of teaching has led her to a decade long teaching career with the Calgary Catholic School Board as well as teaching at Christchurch Girls School (Christchurch, New Zealand).
She has also been involved in sport and recreation for the past twenty years, working and volunteering for not-for-profit, community-based, and municipal organizations that has included supervision of programs servicing over 3500 kids yearly and most recently was a member of the City of Calgary Recreation Access and Inclusion Team.
​
She is also a HIGH FIVE Master Trainer with over 950 hours of HIGH FIVE facilitation experience across Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. She has also been a content writer and developer for HIGH FIVE Sport (with a focus on girls in sport), HIGH FIVE Strengthening Children’s Mental Health and HIGH FIVE Indigenous Games for Children. She is also the HIGH FIVE social media developer(@discoverhighfive) and regular contributor to the online physical literacy resource, Active for Life.

Jen Smith

B.A. Dance, Early Childhood Education 1
Jen has dedicated over 18 years to recreation, working across disability support, youth leadership, outdoor education, and municipal recreation. Her career has spanned impactful roles in Ontario and Alberta — from Program Coordinator at Easter Seals Camp Horizon to a variety of leadership positions with the City of Calgary. A passionate advocate for play and healthy child development, Jen is a HIGH FIVE Trainer, NCCP Facilitator, and active Toastmasters member currently working toward her Distinguished Toastmasters Award. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Guelph and brings a wealth of experience in program development, leadership, and community recreation.
